Handpicked stories for people who care about clean air.

🙏 Hey there,
It’s Amrit. Let’s get to the good news right away: More people talked to Smokey about air quality over the past two weeks than the rest of Smokey‘s life combined. That’s because Smokey was featured in a video in France.
For many of you, especially those from 🇫🇷 France and 🇩🇪 Germany, this is likely your very first Oxygen Mag. Bienvenue and willkommen to you!
Oxygen Mag’s tagline is “handpicked stories for people that care about clean air.” If you scroll down, I’ve handpicked some air pollution stories that caught my eye as fascinating developments. Previous issues have been curated by Dr. Jessica McCarty, Dr. Pallavi Pant, Clean Air Asia India, & others. Oxygen Mag is yours as much as it is mine.
👩‍🔬 Love clean air? Please support ESWN’s (Earth Science Womens Network) Science-a-thon. Thank you to Christa, Dinsa and Christine for contributing! Wait a second - where are the men? Guys, it’s time to step up to support gender equality in the sciences! Click to learn more about and support ESWN now. I gave $100. If you match that, I’ll fly to your city and give you a high five!

💌 Smokey Loves You Too!
Before we get to the handpicked stories below, I just have to take a minute to say thank you! Over the past week, I’ve really felt the love of this community during Smokey’s struggles with Twitter. So many people were asking Smokey for air quality data that Twitter was flagging some messages as spam. I’m now in touch with Twitter and resolving it. In the meantime, I’m so sorry if you don’t see some of Smokey’s tweet replies. It’s an intermittent issue, and it will be fixed shortly. Plus, I’m taking this opportunity to teach Smokey a few new tricks! Seriously - thank you (in no particular order) for your supportive tweets, e-mails and texts:
🙏 Thank you Anthony Ongaro, Dr. Christa Hasenkopf, Dr. Faye McNeill, Dr. Jessica McCarty, Dinsa Sachan, Dr. Roisin Commane, Gameli Adzaho, Pratyush Mohapatra, Sebastian Müller, Seth Louey, Anne Lancaster, Dr. Christine Wiedinmyer, Colleen Baublitz, Abish Shakya, Gangadhar Sulkunte, Arnaud Lasausse, Mike Elliott, Ashwin Sinha, Jasjeev Singh, Dolugen, Alejandra Armendariz, … Smokey loves you too!
Special shout out to M2 of IODA, Oizom and AirOwl for hooking me up with contacts within Twitter and bringing this issue to their attention.

A Note From Smokey's Nest 🌲
Although very humid, this past week in Delhi could not have been more fulfilling. Thank you Prarthana Borah and the Clean Air Asia India team for inviting me to your Clean Air Knowledge Network workshop. Wonderful initiative with a lot of promise. Besides that, in Delhi my focus was to meet you. I’m really glad that I got to sit down and chat with a number of you. I’m looking forward to more conversations and collaborations with you when I’m back in Delhi in August. I’ll be in Kathmandu for July working on a secret project that requires coffee and long hours. (Hint: Air Pollution Sucks.)
